My Blogger's Qult Festival Post 2012

I had hoped to finish something new to put in the Blogger's Quilt Festival but it just didn't happen.  Then I was left with deciding which of the two completely finished quilt projects to share. I finally settled on my Hexie Terrain project.  These hexies were my go to hand sewing project during swimming lessons this summer.
More Terrain hexies!
I my quilting echoed the shape of the hexies, which was a long process with all of the angles.  I traced one of my hexie templates to add some "invisible" hexies on the white background.

The quilting makes it look three dimensional to me.  I appliqued the hexies on to the white background using a straight stitch around the outer edge and then around some of the interior hexies.
I used some Terrain yardage for the backing and binding.  I love the way the dots look! I love this quilt so much that it's hanging in my sewing room where I can see it every time I'm using my iron.

 Details:
Quilt Measures: 17" x 20"
Special Techniques used: applique, hand sewn hexies
Quilted by: Me!
Best Catagory: Favorite Wall Hanging, Favorite Mini, Favorite Home Machine Quilted

I'm looking forward to having some time to check out all the other entries in the Blogger's Quilt Festival.

  3. Beautiful! Your quilting really makes the quilt...which is incredible on its own! Love the colors and hearing it was pieced during the sunny months of summer!

    Good luck!
