#2018makenine

I heard about the #2018makenine after seeing a few of my favorite Instagram makers post collages showing what they want to make this year. After a bit of scrolling through the hashtag on Instagram I found Rochelle the creator behind the idea.  If you'd like to read more about how the idea was conceived I encourage you to read her blog post.

She calls it a gentle challenge that you can't fail!

I had grand plans last year to sew a lot for myself.  But with so many fantastic patterns I found myself overwhelmed by all the options.  I wanted to make everything!  And then I didn't really get anything done.  So I've created a collage and now I know where to focus.  I've made a list of links down below, in case you are interested in learning more about the individual patterns. So...

I'm going to try making most of these from my stash of garment fabrics.  The only one that I might have to buy for is the Oceanside Pants, I don't know that I have enough yardage.  I've actually had my Blackwood Cardigan, Esme Top and Mississippi Ave. Dress cut out for a while so I think may increase my productivity.  I made a bonus list just in case.

Christmas Dress...completed!

Just wanted to pop in to share my daughter's Christmas dress for this year.



Just a simple peasant style dress.  I added a ribbon sash instead of the ties the pattern called for.  I think it dressed it up a bit.



It's just tacked on with an tiny stitch on either side.



I figured the white print would be better lined so for the for the first time ever I lined a dress bodice and concealed the stitching where the skirt is sewn on.

 

Now that it's done I can finish 3 quilts that have been basted but need quilting!  Hopefully I'll have one to share soon!

Not Quite

I didn't quite get my challenge project finished.  When I went to finish out the neck line and the back I couldn't find my bias tape or buttons (I guess it's time to clean up my sewing space).  But I am very happy with the way it's turned out so far, I was a bit nervous because I haven't made anything like this before.   In case you don't recognize it, the fabric is Frolic by Sandy Gervais that I purchased from Natalia at Piece'n'Quilt. 

Thanks Amy for the motivation to get this done.  It's been sitting cut out since May!


* Editor's Note*
After dropping of my son at preschool today, my daughter and made a trip to the local LQS for new bias tape.  I don't know what happened to my other package but I didn't want to waste any more time looking for it.
