This is my most special quilt! I call it my Signal Flags Quilt and I made it as a Christmas gift for my husband. I wish I had some newer pictures to share, but since this quilt is currently
being used somewhere in the Pacific, I can't get any better ones right now. My husband spends longs periods of time away from home and I wanted to give him something that would comfort him while he is gone.
I created my own pattern for the flags after doing some research online. The flags spell out our last name and the Mariner's compass is to point him home.
I traced our kids and my hand on to freezer paper and then quilted around them as a reminder that we are always with him.
Details:
All of the solids are Kona and the Anchors are from Out to Sea by Sarah Jane
Size: Approximately 42" x 80" (to fit an odd sized bed)
Backed with flannel and has no batting
I'm linking up in the Bed Quilts catagory over at BQF 2013.
PS ~ I have also written about this quilt here.

That's a really great way to keep him "in touch" with home while he's away.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job.
Striking quilt with true meaning. You did a great job designing. I love the anchor background on the mariner's compass. A terrific bed quilt! Thanks for sharing.
